18 States and 7 UTs have discontinued the practice of interview in recruitment As per information available as on 24th July, 2017, 18 States and 7 Union Territories have discontinued the practice of interview in recruitment for lower level posts. The objective of discontinuation of interview in selection process at lower level posts is to curb corruption, more objective selection in transparent manner and substantially easing the problems of poor aspirants. Union Territory Administration of Daman & Diu has informed that it has benefitted them economically by way of savings on account of non-application of Travelling Allowance/ Daily Allowance and other expenditure involved in calling candidates for interview. 7th CPC recommended 14.27 % hike in basic pay for CG Employees, which is the lowest in 70 years! 7th Pay Commission: Government employees’ wait for allowances may end soon after Cabinet meet The Empowered Committee of Secretaries has reportedly capped House Rent Allowance (HRA) rates at 25-27 per cent. It is, however, for the Union cabinet to take a final call on allowances. For nearly 50 lakh Central government employees, the long wait for allowances could end soon as the Narendra Modi-led cabinet is believed to have met on Wednesday to discuss and decide on the revised allowance structure. After screening the Ashok Lavasa report on allowances, the Empowered Committee of Secretaries (E-CoS) has forwarded the report along with its suggestions to the government. According to some reports, the E-CoS has capped House Rent Allowance (HRA) rates at 25-27 per cent. It is, however, for the Union cabinet to take a final call on allowances, including the HRA. Financial Impact of 7th CPC on Medical Institutes Whether medical institutes are finding difficulty to comply with Governments circular to generate 30 per cent of additional financial impact incurred on implementing 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC)? “Government has not put any mandatory condition on Medical Institutes to generate 30% of the additional financial impact incurred on implementing the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC). Most Medical Institutes have expressed inability to meet 30% of the additional financial impact. Therefore, the Ministry has submitted 13 proposals so far to Ministry of Finance for relaxation in the condition to bear 30% of additional financial impact.” This was stated by the Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Shri Faggan Singh Kulaste in a written reply to question by Shri K.R.Arjunan in the Rajya Sabha on 11.4.2017.
